Attrition

What is attrition in a hotel contract?

A contractual penalty for not using committed room nights in a hotel room block. If a contract specifies 80% attrition, the organization must pick up at least 80% of blocked rooms per night or pay a penalty on the shortfall — typically the full room rate for each unused room night. Attrition is usually calculated per night, not in aggregate, making it the single most important financial risk in room block management.

Stop tracking attrition by hand

Blocks extracts attrition from your contracts, tracks it alongside every deadline and room night, and proposes the next step for you to review — so the busy work is handled, and nothing changes until you confirm.
